No one defined shock rock like Alice Cooper. Cooper used violent (and vile) theatrics - simulated executions, the chopping up of baby dolls, and draping himself with a live boa constrictor - and explicit lyrics to become a controversial yet hugely popular figure in the early-and-mid 1970s. He's mellowed a bit since then, becoming somewhat of an elder statesman of the rock world, with an enviable back catalog of hits including 'School's Out', 'Elected', No Mr. Nice Guy' and I'm Eighteen'.
Without Alice Cooper, there might never have been the NY Dolls, KISS, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crue, Slipknot or Rob Zombie ... maybe not even David Bowie, or at least not Ziggy Stardust.

Redemption!
Funny Story; having seen Cooper back in 1977, I decided to surprise my wife to the march
Indy show. Received tickets and hid them away in dresser in late February(thinking along
time till April concert). Asked wife to request off late April when April arrived..... I opened
the envelope to confirm late april show..........THAT'S RIGHT....I MISSED THE SHOW THAT
WAS 3 DAYS EARLIER! so upset.

later that day wife said he was returning to midwest end of summer. So I bought the Fort
Wayne tickets 30 yards from stage in middle. Saturday night so made it was an overnight
run up from Indy(1.5 hrs), hit zoo, hit steakhouse. Open sides outdoor theatre, free
parking near zoo, only 2300 seat theatre....and a fabulous show. I kept telling my wife
"he's 70".... but I felt like was watching same show from 1977. Absolutely great
entertainment. Even the preachers out front before show shouting "sinners"!

I usually get ticked off at people who stand in front of me (which they did) especially when I have premium seats (which I did). But, I stood too. From the first song till the very end (and I have never done that in my life). And as near as I could tell, so did everyone else. One of the if not the best show of my life!!! ... Read more
